  • “This is the only hour of the week where I want to be inside my own body and mind.”

    Charlie, Enduring Freedom Veteran
  • “This [Yoga Nidra Meditation] is the piece that was missing from the PTSD program. It fits with everything else they teach us, but it also teaches us a way to find our own peace without drugs or counseling that we can use once we get out of the program. It is the one thing I know I’m going to keep doing when I leave.”

    Martin, Vietnam Veteran
  • “Before we started, I thought that yoga was against my beliefs as a Christian. Now I see that it is completely in line with my beliefs and deepens my understanding of my own faith. I realized too that I was prejudiced against others before this. I guess I didn’t think that Jews or Muslims had a spirit. But there is a Jewish guy in the class and we talk all the time about how we feel in meditation. We feel the same thing. And I realize that we’ve got the same spirit.”

    Tony, Enduring Freedom Veteran
  • “I used to feel like I didn’ t trust other people. In meditation, I realized that I didn’t trust myself. It is helping me feel more calm. The more calm I feel, the more I see that people are trying their best.”

    Jose, Veteran
  • “You have truly been a blessing for both the Vets and myself. It’ s been an extraordinary and exciting journey and for that, I thank you.”

Oscar Lorio, Recreational Therapist responsible for Residential PTSD program
  • “I hadn’t slept more than two hours in a row since Vietnam. What is this now...35 or 40 years of no sleep? Since the very first week I started using your meditation CD, I sleep through the entire night, at least 6 hours. I feel like an entirely different person. The other thing that happened is that I got to go off my blood pressure medication. My blood pressure went down from 180 over 110 to 120 over 90. I’m telling every guy I know about meditation. I think I eat better too – like I feel so good that I don’t want to eat junk food anymore.”

    Willie, Vietnam Veteran
  • "Molly is a master teacher who brings her warm and loving heart, intellectual fortitude, longtime interest in self-inquiry, deep ease of being and joyful enthusiasm, and her grounded presence to all that she offers."

Richard Miller, PhD, Founder of iRest Institute

Spring Retreat with Molly Birkholm & Swami Kashi @ Kashi Ashram
May 5 – May 11 all-day
Join us for a Warriors at Ease Retreat that offers a deep dive into the practices of yoga, meditation, and yoga philosophy! This retreat is special because it’s a civilian-veteran retreat, designed to bring people together for a week of personal reflection, transformation and growth. Through this unique combination, participants will have the opportunity to learn from one another and develop a deeper sense of connection amidst deep practice.

Attendees can expect a daily program that includes yoga, iRest Yoga Nidra, Vedanta lectures, silent meditation, breathing practices, creativity practices, vegetarian food, personal reflection time, and community fun with fellow attendees. There will be two days of silence during the week, in which participants are invited to adhere to Mauna (Sanskrit for “silence” throughout the day’s activities.

The focus is on going deep into the practices of yoga and meditation. There will be no difference in participation between veterans, civilians or providers of the retreat. We are all in this together, we will all be doing the practices. We will all be sharing in the experience.

This retreat is open to veterans and civilians who already have a regular meditation and yoga practice and are interested in an advanced retreat. This retreat will maintain a strict retreat schedule. It is rigorous but we are inviting people who are serious practitioners and who from their own personal interest want to experience Advanced Retreat.
